The assumption to check

Is the headline price the whole bill?

A clearer starting point

Get the recurring price and the separate charges in writing.

Ask what kind of price it is

The same brand-name weight medicine can have different prices from the maker, through a discount card, through insurance, or through a government programme (checked September 2026).

List price means the figure a medicine’s maker publishes. A cash price means paying outside insurance. An insured payment is the amount left for you under your plan.

A brand name is the product’s trade name, such as Ozempic. Ask which way of paying your quote uses, and whether you qualify for that price.

A dated example of an opening offer

The Ozempic pen contains semaglutide, a medicine used for type 2 diabetes.

Product strength means how much medicine the product contains.

The government’s cash-price listing showed an Ozempic pen offer for new customers paying without insurance. For each of the first two monthly supplies, the price was $199 at certain product strengths (checked September 2026).

Ask the pharmacist which product strength your quote covers and whether it qualifies for this offer.

After the opening offer, the listed monthly price was $349 or $499, depending on product strength. The offer’s terms ran through December 31, 2026 (checked September 2026).

The offer is for new customers who are at least 18, live in the US, and pay without insurance. If you have insurance, you cannot ask it to repay this bill. You also cannot count the cash expense toward your insurance deductible (checked September 2026).

A deductible means your plan requires an amount paid by you before certain coverage begins.

Ask for the opening price and the later price for your exact product in writing. This dated medicine offer is not a Boise clinic quote or a complete care bill.

Put every charge on the same list

  • The assessment or visit fee.
  • Any ongoing membership or care fee.
  • The exact medicine and the amount of time the price covers.
  • Tests and any charge to discuss their results.
  • Delivery and follow-up charges.
  • The price after an opening offer ends.

Ask the service to fill in the list. Compare complete totals for the same period rather than comparing a medicine-only quote with an all-in plan.

Ask what happens if the plan changes

  • What is charged if the clinician does not prescribe?
  • Does a medicine change alter the price?
  • What commitment am I making?
  • What costs remain if I leave?
